The South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council (SWK EDC) is proud to celebrate the region’s incredible diversity as we recognize February as Black History Month and March as Women’s History Month.  We are honored and humbled by the female and minority leaders and citizens that have played an integral role in the history of our region as well those who continue to ensure we are a region committed to maximizing and celebrating our region’s diversity as a strength.

The SWK is home to the most diverse city, per capita, in Kentucky as Hopkinsville boasts a population that is young, diverse, and forward thinking.  Additionally, Christian County is recognized as the youngest county in the State of Kentucky with an average of 29.1 years old.

With close proximity to Nashville, TN and Fort Campbell, Kentucky, the 3-county region benefits from a continuous introduction of new residents from all regions of the country and world.  There are over 28 different countries represented in the 3-county region which are celebrated annually at the Hopkinsville International Festival.  This year’s festival is scheduled for March 24-25 at the Jennie Stuart Health Planters Bank SportsPlex in Hopkinsville, KY.

This young, diverse, and growing regional population continues to fuel economic growth and prosperity as companies and industries can maximize their site selection choice with a diverse workforce that keeps getting better.  That’s why 22 international companies, representing 11 unique countries, have chosen to grow in South Western Kentucky.

In our region, we firmly believe our diversity is our strength and the region is ready to put that strength to work for any company or industry that chooses to invest in our less taxing, more relaxing region.  For more information on this release, the SWK EDC, the region, and available sites like our 100,000SF shell buildings, please contact 270-885-1499 or visit www.southwesternky.com.
