02/11/2021

The South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council is pleased to announce that Christian County continues to rank in the top 5 in Kentucky’s total agriculture receipts. According to the USDA Census of Agriculture, Christian County raked in over $205M in agricultural sales ranking 4th, Todd County brought in over $175M ranking 7th and Trigg County brought in over $50m ranking 35th. Collectively, the SWK counties brought in over $425M in agriculture sales.
SWK EDC Board Member and Vice Chair Alan Gates commented, “This comes as no surprise given our strong agriculture history, fertile land, and hard-working hands. Our region continues to lead the way in the state and nation when it comes to farming, agri-business, agriculture related manufacturing, and innovations in agriculture. I am proud to partner with agriculture leaders through our economic development efforts as well as at our electric cooperative.”
The South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council is proud to support the existing agriculture-related industries like Hopkinsville Milling, Continental Mills, Siemer Milling, Commonwealth Agri-Energy, Martin Industries, and others through supporting workforce efforts, communications, support to solve issues, training, and additional activities to help our industries grow.
Additionally, the SWK EDC works with its strategic partners to continue identifying land and sites suitable for development for agriculture related projects including rail, interstate, and build ready sites. All site information can be found at www.southwesternky.com including information on the 100,800 square foot speculative building that will be perfect for an agriculture related company.
SWK EDC Executive Director Carter Hendricks shared, “Our Board and staff team remain committed to supporting our agriculture related industries while identifying new companies to invest in our market. We recognize that we have the crops, expertise, innovation, and land necessary to help agriculture related companies grow. Combined with our exceptional workforce, geographic proximity, and business friendly tax climate and attitude, we know that our region is an agriculture company’s best bet for its next investment.”
