The South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council is pleased to announce that Christian County continues to rank high in Kentucky’s total agriculture receipts.  According to the Christian County Agri-Business Association, Christian County ranks #1 in winter wheat and corn while ranking #2 in soybean production!  Todd and Trigg Counties also continue to rank in the top 5 in several crop categories including winter wheat, corn, soybean, and poultry.  These rankings continue to demonstrate that South Western Kentucky is home to the state’s most fertile lands and hardest working hands.

The region’s fertile lands and young, skilled, and growing workforce has also fueled success in agri-businesses and manufacturing.  Due to the region’s vertical supply chain opportunities, South Western Kentucky has seen tremendous success in agriculture and manufacturing.

As result, the South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council is proud to support the existing agriculture-related industries like Hopkinsville Milling, Hopkinsville Elevator, Continental Mills, Siemer Milling, Commonwealth Agri-Energy, Martin Industries, Cal-Maine Foods,  MB Roland, Casey Jones Distillery and others through supporting workforce efforts, communications, support to solve issues, training, and additional activities to help our industries grow.

Additionally, the SWK EDC works with its strategic partners to continue identifying land and sites suitable for development for agriculture related projects including rail, interstate, and build ready sites. All site information can be found at www.southwesternky.com including information on the 100,800sft speculative building that will be perfect for an agriculture related company.

SWK EDC Executive Director Carter Hendricks shared, “Our Board and staff team remain committed to supporting our agriculture related industries while identifying new companies to invest in our market.  With our region’s agriculture leadership, exceptional workforce, geographic proximity, and business friendly tax climate, we know that our region is an agriculture company’s best bet for its next investment.”
