Reflecting on the Past Year and Looking Ahead
As we reflect on the past year at the South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council, we are proud of the progress made across our region and optimistic about the future. This year was marked by collaboration, steady growth, and a shared commitment to strengthening the economic vitality of South Western Kentucky.
A Year of Progress
Throughout the year, SWK EDC continued to support business recruitment and expansion efforts across Christian, Todd, and Trigg Counties. Our region saw continued strength in key industries including automotive, agribusiness, manufacturing, aerospace, logistics, and chemical production. With more than 75 manufacturers employing over 11,000 residents, our industrial base remains a driving force for economic opportunity.
This year, we celebrated the grand opening of Toyota Boshoku's newest facility, an expansion for Huhtamaki, and the sale of the 100,000sft shell building In Hopkinsville's Commerce Park to Australia based Kitchen Food Company, in addition to a number of retail projects that continue to add diversity of choice and Improved quality of life for our region.
We also recognized the impact of our industry partners and community leaders, whose investments contribute billions of dollars annually to the regional economy and support thousands of jobs. Since 2022, thirteen new Industry and Industry expansion announcements have generated over $2.8B In economic resulting in over 9,000 new direct, indirect, and induced jobs. In addition, a positive financial audit for the 2024–25 fiscal year reaffirmed our commitment to transparency, accountability, and responsible stewardship.
Looking Ahead
As we move forward, SWK EDC is guided by the SWK 2030 Strategic Plan, a five-year roadmap focused on sustainable growth and long-term competitiveness. Key priorities include job creation, private capital investment, infrastructure development, workforce readiness, and site preparedness to meet the needs of future employers. The plan Is driven by two bold goals: Help create over 2500 new good paying jobs and help attract over $3B In new capital Investment.
With over 2,000 acres under ownership or controlled option with rail, Interstate, and speed to market real estate sites, the market Is well positioned to support continued economic growth.
