SWK ANNOUNCES WAGE AND SKILL SURVEY
The South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council (SWK EDC) is launching the 6th annual regional wage and skill survey as a strategy of the “Getting Ready to Win” (GR2W) initiative. The wage and skill survey will be shared with regional industries and large employers to determine the current wage and benefit structure as well as any skill gaps, etc.
SWK EDC Associate Director Tony Prim commented, “Workforce continues to be a main priority of our existing industries. This survey will allow us to get a better understanding of industry opportunities and needs so we can partner with our regional education and workforce providers. This allows our region to ensure our current and future workforce is ready to take advantage of our regional job opportunities today and in the future.”
The SWK EDC will utilize the information to provide greater direction to our workforce and industry partners to ensure the region has competitive wages and benefits and provides the educational and training opportunities to build the workforce of the future.
Additional GR2W highlights include:
- Continuing marketing of the 100,000+ SFT spec building in the I-24 Business Park in Cadiz, Kentucky.
- Secured grants to assist with industrial site development throughout South Western Kentucky.
- Launched the Fort Campbell Industrial Maintenance and Mechatronics (IMM) Program in partnership with Hopkinsville Community College and Fort Campbell.
- Coordinated SWK Ignite Tours for over 250 regional high school students this fall.
Carter Hendricks, Executive Director, commented, “The Boyette Economic Impact Analysis Report provided insight into the significant economic impact of thirteen industry announcements since 2022. While we celebrate growth and new industries, we also want to maintain our focus on supporting our existing industries to help them grow and our communities to position them for future success. Our mission is simple. We exist to help companies invest and succeed in South Western Kentucky and our communities to grow and thrive as a result.”
