SWK 2030: Sustaining the Momentum
A 5-Year Strategic Plan
The South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council (SWK EDC) recently announced the approval of their five-year strategic plan, SWK 2030. The plan was developed through a collaborative input process including input from stakeholders, contributors, regional leadership, and timely programs provided by TVA.
The SWK 2030 strategic plan focuses on five key industry clusters including automotive, agriculture, defense and aerospace, distribution and logistics, and chemical companies. These clusters were chosen based on prior success, and 3rd party analysis indicating the SWK region has the necessary attributes to help companies in these sectors succeed. Additionally, the plan calls for SWK EDC to serve as a strong partner in talent development, retail recruitment, and residential development.
Additionally, the plan sets aggressive regional 5-year goals, including:
- Create over 2500 new high wage manufacturing jobs.
- Create over $2.5 Billion in new private capital investment.
- Secure over $20 million in grant dollars to assist regional communities.
“We are excited the board of directors has approved the next five-year strategic framework. With clear goals, priorities and action steps, we believe South Western Kentucky is well positioned to continue economic growth through supporting our existing businesses while identifying new companies to recruit to our communities,” shared Carter Hendricks, Executive Director, South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council.
