The South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council has been selected to participate in the Tennessee Valley Authority’s (TVA) Community Livability Initiative.
The purpose of the Community Livability Initiative is to assist communities in sharing an impactful quality-of-place story. Quality of place has become an increasing focus to companies and future talent when selecting a new location and community in which to migrate. TVA started this initiative to help its communities effectively present their assets to prospective companies and talent that may want to migrate to their region.
“We are excited to represent our region and learn invaluable lessons and tools to best tell our region’s impressive story and help recruit and retain industries. We are thankful to TVA for this opportunity and look forward to fully engaging in the process!” said Carter Hendricks, Executive Director of the South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council.
Local community partners will identify and catalogue livability assets in the region using a Request for Information (RFI) provided by Newmark Knight Frank (NKF) then pitch the South Western Kentucky region livability story to NFK consultants and TVA economic development staff at a Community Livability Showcase.
The initiative is sponsored by TVA providing this valuable process to the community at no cost.
“We’re pleased that South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council will be participating in TVA’s Community Livability Initiative aimed at strengthening a community’s livability story in an effort to further attract economic growth and showcase talent attraction assets,” said Heidi Smith, TVA ED Global Business.
Pitch feedback will be provided as well as an invitation to a special Community Livability Workshop presented by the Newmark Frank Knight consultants.
Once the South Western Kentucky Livability Story is completed, action plans will be incorporated into our SWK EDC regional economic development and Tourism promotion strategies.
