South Western Kentucky Announces Go Green Sustainability Awards &

Industry Appreciation Luncheon to be Rescheduled

The South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council is announcing that the annual Industry Appreciation Luncheon, scheduled for Wednesday October 21st, is being rescheduled to a date to be determined.  Executive Director Carter Hendricks commented, “We are making this decision out of an abundance of caution.  With an escalation of cases regionally and across the state, we believe this is the most prudent decision to ensure our workforce and employers are able to keep moving forward with economic recovery.  Once we have a date rescheduled, we look forward to hosting the luncheon and celebrating our industries for the outstanding corporate partners that they are!”

The annual event provides the SWK EDC with an opportunity to celebrate and appreciate the over 61 manufacturers that provide over 12,000 jobs and over $300,000,000 in direct annual payroll each year.  As important, the SWK EDC recognizes the regional industry partners for their corporate leadership and ongoing support of efforts like United Way, Rotary Auctions, youth sports, and local schools.

For the second consecutive year, the SWK EDC is also recognizing six industries for their commitment to sustainability as part of the TVA Go Green Sustainability Awards process.  Through a partnership with the Tennessee Valley Authority, the SWK EDC region has achieved gold level sustainability status for Christian County and silver level status for Trigg County while working with local leaders and industries to highlight and celebrate their various efforts in sustainability and environmental stewardship.

At the rescheduled industry appreciation event, each industry will be presented with the Go Green Sustainability Award.  This year, the SWK EDC and TVA recognize the following industries for the leadership in Go Green Sustainability efforts:

Brazeway, Plant Manager Steve Wilson, Hopkinsville, KY

Commonwealth Agri-Energy, Mick Henderson and Jon Stahl, Hopkinsville, KY

Novelis- Plant Manager Paul Banks, Guthrie, KY

Pregis, Plant Manager Jim Blair, Hopkinsville, KY

Riken Elastomers- President, Toshimi Yamanaka, Hopkinsville, KY
