Celebrates Region’s Continued Success in Agriculture
The South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council is pleased to celebrate March as Agriculture Appreciation Month in South Western Kentucky and to celebrate the region’s continued high ranking in Kentucky’s total agriculture receipts. According to the Christian County Agri-Business Association, Christian County ranks #1 in winter wheat and corn while ranking #3 in soybean production. Todd and Trigg Counties also continue to rank in the top 5 in several crop categories including winter wheat, corn, soybean, and poultry. These rankings demonstrate that South Western Kentucky is home to the state’s most fertile lands and hardest working hands.
The region’s fertile lands and young, skilled, and growing workforce has also fueled success in agri-businesses and manufacturing. Due to the region’s vertical supply chain opportunities, South Western Kentucky has seen tremendous success in agriculture and manufacturing.
As a result, the South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council is proud to support the existing agriculture-related industries like Hopkinsville Milling, Hopkinsville Elevator, Krusteaz, Siemer Milling, Commonwealth Agri-Energy, Kitchen Food Company, Martin Industries, Cal-Maine Foods, Delavan Ag Pumps, MB Roland Distillery, Casey Jones Distillery, H&R Agri Power, and others through supporting workforce efforts, communications, issues support, training, and additional activities to help existing companies succeed.
Additionally, the SWK EDC works with its strategic partners to identify land and sites suitable for development for agriculture related projects including rail, interstate, and build ready sites.
