Industry Appreciation Luncheon Announcement

Several industries to be recognized for sustainability and community stewardship & Associate Director of Business Retention and Expansion Announced.
The South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council is excited to announce the annual Industry Appreciation Luncheon is scheduled for Wednesday October 20th. The annual event provides the SWK region with an opportunity to celebrate and appreciate the over 61 manufacturers that provide over 8,000 jobs and over $300,000,000 in direct annual payroll each year. Additionally, regional leadership will proclaim October as Manufacturing Appreciation Month in the SWK. Industry partners will also be recognized for their corporate leadership and ongoing support of efforts like United Way, Rotary Auctions, Kiwanis initiatives, youth sports, and local schools as well as milestone years of operation (5,10,20 year, etc).
Carter Hendricks, SWK EDC Executive Director, shared, “We are thrilled to help recognize and celebrate our existing industries and job creators. It’s their continued investment that is leading to even more opportunities for our regional economy and residents. We invite the entire South Western Kentucky region to join us in celebrating our manufacturers this month and every month.”
Through a partnership with the Tennessee Valley Authority, the SWK EDC is also recognizing industries for their commitment to sustainability as part of the TVA Go Green Sustainability Awards process. Over the past five years, the SWK EDC region has achieved gold level sustainability status for Christian County and silver level status for Trigg County while working with local leaders and industries to highlight and celebrate their various efforts in sustainability and environmental stewardship which continue to be key factors in business decisions.
Associate Director Sharon Butts stated, “I have been honored to work with TVA and our local communities and industries to continue our sustainability efforts and to promote environmental stewardship. The SWK region is committed to being green friendly and to recruiting companies and businesses that value sustainability.”
Finally, the SWK EDC is also pleased to announce the hiring of Mr. Tony Prim as the new Associate Director of Business Retention and Expansion. Mr. Prim brings over two decades of sales and relationship building experience with business and industry and a sincere passion for our region.
