The South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council (SWK EDC) is proud to partner with the Hopkinsville Industrial Foundation to announce the ceremonial groundbreaking of the SWK’s Speculative Building #12 which will be built at HIF’s pad ready site on Frank Yost Lane in Commerce Park I.

The 100,800 sft speculative building is designed for optimal use for manufacturing, distribution, logistics, and more.  With the region’s proven success in automotive, agriculture, aerospace, distribution, and advanced manufacturing, the building is designed with 38ft ceiling heights, 12 dock bays, and world class office space to suit any future tenant’s needs.

The Hopkinsville Industrial Foundation has awarded the construction contract to BradEm Construction (Hopkinsville, KY).  BradEm submitted the lowest best bid while committing to use a large number of local/regional subcontractors.  An estimated $1.8 million worth of contracts will be locally sourced during the construction project.  Additionally, locally owned Planters Bank has been selected as the financing institution providing a competitive interest rate and loan conditions.

John Crenshaw, President of the Hopkinsville Industrial Foundation, commented, “We are excited to break ground on this much anticipated project.  With outstanding support from TVA, the Cabinet for Economic Development, and City and County Government, our Industrial Foundation has been able to leverage a great deal and look forward to overseeing this project and helping to create jobs for our region.  We are also excited that the contractor is committed to utilizing local and regional businesses as a part of this important project.”

A ceremonial groundbreaking will be held on March 3, 11:30 a.m. Covid-19 regulations and protocols will be strictly followed.  Additionally, the South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council has launched a dedicated website page at https://southwesternky.com/site-selection/spec-building where visitors can view live stream of the Speculative Building during construction.

Carter Hendricks, Executive Director of the South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council, shared, “We are looking forward to working closely with the Hopkinsville Industrial Foundation to market the speculative building and to help create jobs and new economic opportunity for the residents of our region.  We are confident that our workforce, award winning communities, and infrastructure will help us promote the building and find the next new company and industry for our region.”
