Three-county region celebrates less taxing, more relaxing.

In the last three years, the South Western Kentucky region has celebrated fifteen industry announcements or expansions totaling over 1500 new jobs and nearly $2B in new capital investment highlighted by Ascend Elements, EZ Access, and Toyota Boshoku in Christian County, Novelis  and Delavan Ag Pumps in Todd County, and Load Covering Solutions in Trigg County.

SWK EDC Executive Director, Carter Hendricks, noted, “These investments are adding significant value to the regional property tax rolls allowing the three-county region to celebrate lower taxes for all its residents. Our team and regional leadership remain committed to strategically growing our community while providing award winning quality of life for all residents.”

A ten-year county property tax rate trend analysis highlights:

  • Christian County’s rate has dropped from 18.7 cents per $100 to 18.1 cents per $100 value.
  • Trigg County’s rate has dropped from 8 cents per $100 value to 7.8 cents per $100 value.
  • Todd County’s rate remains unchanged at 9 cents per $100 value.
  • The three-county regional rates remain among the lowest in the nation according to taxrates.com.

“Christian County remains committed to providing services and infrastructure while maximizing our revenue and keeping taxes affordable for our residents.  We are eager to support pro-growth policies that lead to lower taxes,” stated Jerry Gilliam, Christian County Judge Executive.

The region’s competitive tax rates continue to draw business and tourism as noted by Trigg County Judge Executive Stan Humphries, “With thousands of miles of trails and waterway, our region provides an incredible landscape to relax and enjoy outdoor adventure.  We routinely welcome new companies, visitors, and residents who desire to take advantage of a lower cost of living and the great outdoors.”

In January 2024, the state of Kentucky will be lowering the state personal income tax to 4% placing the state as one of the lowest taxed states in the nation.  “We are already experiencing positive growth as a result of significant industrial development as well as residential development as new residents take advantage of lower prices, lower property taxes, and a lower state income tax,” shared Todd Mansfield, Todd County Judge Executive.
