Recreation

The western border of our three county region is a National Recreation Area called “Land Between the Lakes.” It sits on the largest inland peninsula in America, between Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley. Here, you’ll find more than 170,000 acres of forested and protected land – with over 300 miles of undeveloped, natural shoreline.

Land Between the Lakes is managed by the United States Forest Service and attracts over two million visitors each year. It’s easy to see why. The area offers some of the best hunting, fishing, boating, swimming, camping, hiking, and horseback riding you’ll enjoy anywhere. It’s a world-class getaway that’s close to home.

Each year, local festivals celebrate everything from faraway nations to butterflies, to country ham and bourbon. Enjoy live music and plays at the historic Alhambra Theater. Visit a museum with antique fire trucks. Swim at our aquatic center. Join a softball team. Catch a Hoptown Hoppers baseball game or golf at one of 30 regional courses. Good fun is easy to find in South Western Kentucky.
